  14.      DESCRIPTION
  15.           Reads a portable bitmap as input.  Applies the rules of Life
  16.           to it for one generation, and produces a portable bitmap as
  17.           output.

  19.           A white pixel in the image is interpreted as a live beastie,
  20.           and a black pixel as an empty space.
